I need to stop pretending that Styx without DeYoung is a different band. Listening to The Mission made me realize I should have listened to it before. I will also admit that before compiling this list I re-listened to Cyclorama and possibly for the first time listened to The Mission.Ī song from each made my list and two additional songs from The Mission were runner-ups, just outside my Top 40, "Gone, Gone, Gone" at #41 and "The Greater Good" at #46. "Don't Let it End" at #19 and "Radio Silence" at #36. Well, of the last five songs posted, I only had two on my list. I hope that you begin to feel better soon and appreciate you getting out whatever parts of the rankings that you can. I had no part in putting this in the top 40 LOL… but I’m happy it resonates with those that did. I’m sure I’m in the minority here with my opinion on the more “mellow” tunes but that’s where my head is at. I can appreciate this song, I know it was a hit and I can respect that, but when I think about the Styx songs I love, this one just doesn’t quite squeeze into that bracket. So this did not crack my top 40, and without saying too much, only one DDY ballad type song did crack my top 40 and landed somewhere in the mid 20’s. LOL… see my previous comment on song #33. Of course that is all my opinion and understand how some folks may appreciate the more “sensitive” DDY as determined by the #32 song. This is the kind of DDY music that I like and thought he was at his best fit with the band during these moments. Absolutely great song from such a great album, this definitely just missed out of my top ten list by a bit.
